Celebrating Creativity, Culture and Performance at Mount Pleasant School

Published on: 18 December 2025

Over two wonderful days in October at Mount Pleasant School, Art Asia delivered a series of Diwali-inspired visual arts, dance and tabla workshops, each filled with colour, rhythm, creativity and joyful learning.

During our first visit, students explored the festival of lights through hands-on visual arts activities. They created vibrant rangoli patterns, decorative diyas and festive cards, all while learning about the cultural traditions behind each craft. Their enthusiasm shone through in every piece of artwork.

The students were full of enthusiasm throughout the sessions. One shared, “I think this workshop is amazing. I think my rangoli pattern will scare all the demons away.” Another said, “It was great, I drew a diya using colouring pencils and glitter.” A third added, “I had so much fun making a fireworks card for Mum and Dad to celebrate Diwali.”

Teachers also reflected on the experience, saying, “Thank you for coming to teach during Diwali. It was excellent to hear the traditions and meanings behind the crafts the children made.”

The following week, our dance and tabla practitioners returned to lead exciting drumming and Bollywood dance sessions with 93 students from Years 3 to 6. The day concluded with an uplifting assembly performance in front of around 300 students, the headteacher and staff, which was an incredible achievement for the young performers.
