Art Asia and Southampton Music Hub are excited to announce our next Indian Classical Music Club night.

Launched in November 2015, the new club  is for those with an interest or love for Indian Classical Music.

Evenings include presentations on Indian classical music – the history, instruments, Ragas (Scales), Talas (rhythmic cycles) and short performances from renowned musicians.

The September club features Chiranjib Chakrabortty, a singer who will demonstrate various styles of  Indian vocal music based on classical music and international Tabla player Pandit Sanju Sahai.

Chiranjib Chakraborty is an accomplished and versatile vocalist of Indian classical music of his generation. He has been honoured as a ‘Fellow’ in Indian Vocal Music (FTCL) by the prestigious Trinity College of London. He will sing Thumri, Chaiti, Holi, Dadra, Kajari, Tappa, Bhajan and Chhota Khayal which are based on Indian classical vocal music.

Pandit Sanju Sahai is a phenomenal and outstanding Tabla player, he is well known for mesmerising and captivating his audience with his power, virtuosity and complete spontaneity.
